Church Live Stream Appeal
8th July 2020
Greetings to you all
Let me begin by apologising for the deterioration in the quality of the sound in moving from my office to the church for the celebration of Mass. We are learning as we go along but are hoping to soon be able to improve the quality of the service by installing equipment in the church that will allow us to stream all services without depending on my laptop and a plug-in camera and microphone.
Given the size of our church and the quality of the cameras and equipment needed, this is going to be a considerable expense. Nearly £10,000. While this is well above what we expected it to be, I am aware that we are going to see a considerable number of significant moments in people’s lives – marriages, funerals, first communions confirmations etc being celebrated under circumstances where there will be a severely limited number of guests able to be physically present in the celebration. For this reason, despite the high cost we feel it is a good investment to make for the life of the parish going forward.
Given that our income has been severely reduced due to the lack of Sunday collections for the last four months, we are making an appeal and would ask those who have benefited from the services we have been streaming to consider making a donation towards the costs we are incurring.
If you wish to make a donation, please use the following details to make a bank transfer using the reference: Church Streaming to
Claretian Missionaries Trust. Lloyds Bank 30-94-47. Account # 00090810
Or send a check made out to: Claretian Missionaries Trust
I am including here a video link https://youtu.be/walk0ZO7tOU for a Thanksgiving Reflection I created for my 30th Anniversary of Ordination which is today. I would ask you to pray for me today that I would continue to be faithful in my service as a Claretian Missionary. My reflection has given me the opportunity to recognise the many blessings I have been granted in my life as a missionary and it is humbling to recognise the many people who have touched my life and made me the person I am today. I will be offering my Mass, which will be streamed at midday today for you all. If you think priests sit around all week waiting for Sunday Mass you might be surprised by the things I’ve been privileged to be involved in during the last 30 years!
I appreciate your support,
Yours in the Immaculate Heart of Mary
