Claretian Family Day

This popular annual event will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 27th August at Buckden Towers, an opportunity to join those from other Claretian parishes round the country.

A coach has been booked leaving from here at 10.15am and at 6.00pm from Buckden for the return journey. The seat price is £12.00 per adult—£6.00 per child. There will be a bar-b-que lunch with refreshments and a programme of entertainment, fun and games throughout the afternoon with Mass before departing for home.

If you would like to take part and travel by coach to the Family Day, please add your details to the coach list in the Parish Office and please pay for your ticket/s at the time of booking and book early to avoid disappointment.

Thank you.

With grateful thanks . . . . .
The family of the late Roy Andrade would like to thank Fr Paul Joseph, the Botwell Choir and all family and friends for the Mass and sympathy cards which were greatly appreciated.

Activities Sunday
Each group in the parish is requested to create a display as part of the activities weekend which will take place on the first weekend in September.
The purpose of the display is to:
· Introduce your group, informing people what your group does in contributing to the parish to fulfil its mission.
· Encourage people to get involved.
We have identified 27 groups within the parish, please contact the Parish Office to confirm your participation in this event.

Flower Festival
Arrangements are underway for our Flower Festival on 6th—8th September. We are appealing for volunteers who can help serve the refreshments and volunteers who will act as guides for the two hour sessions throughout the three days. (10am—12noon; 12noon–2pm; 2pm–4pm; 4pm-6pm & 6pm– 8pm). A meeting to prepare people offering to be guides will be arranged.
If you are prepared to help, please leave your details in the Parish Office.

Mass for the Sick
This year’s Mass for the Sick has been arranged to coincide with the end of the Flower Festival and will take place on Sunday 9th September.
If you know people who are housebound and need help to get to this celebration, please leave details in the Parish Office.
If you would be prepared to help collect people on the day please let us know also through the Parish Office. The Mass will be a fitting tribute to all those who have supported the parish over many years in this and many other events.

Office Opening Hours
From September our intention is to extend the opening hours of the Parish Office so that it will be open each evening from 7.00—9.00pm.
To do this we will require volunteers who would be prepared to do one evening a week.
During the evening you would be responsible for:-
· Answering the telephone.
· Dealing with enquiries.
· Booking Masses.
· Staffing the repository.
· Helping with the preparation of  newsletters, bulletins etc. when necessary.

Training will be provided.

If you are interested in knowing more about this, please give your name and contact details to Bridget in the Parish Office.

Mary’s Meals
The following e-mail has been received from Mary’s Meals.
A very big ‘thank you’ for collecting unwanted clothes for Mary's Meals at the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Hayes.
I am delighted to say that the parish managed to give a stunning 1,715kg of unwanted clothes. The amount raised will feed 69 children who will not only get fed one good, nutritious meal every school day for a whole year, but they will get an education too. Please let the parish know how grateful Mary’s Meals is for its support – this is an excellent result!
God bless, Christina Read. Fundraising Support Administrator
