Special Collections

Up until 2007 we have organised special collections on Feast Days and Holy Days of Obligation for the various collections that take place throughout the year.  In 2008 most of the Holy Days fall on Sundays which means that alternative arrangements are needed.

We have, to the best of our ability, arranged all second collections so that they do not fall all at the same time.  We would encourage you to make a conscious decision about which you might support, bearing in mind your own personal circumstances and what specific ministry you would like to support.  All special collections are purely voluntary and no one should feel obliged to give more than they are able.

We apologise for the late notification but the first of these collections will be this weekend and is for the Catholic Education Service.

Society of St Vincent de Paul

The annual dinner takes place next Saturday 26th January, reception at 2.00pm for dinner at 2.30pm..  Any parishioner who has not yet received an invitation should contact the Parish Office.

As in the past, preparation of the food takes place on Friday afternoon 25th January from 12 noon.   We look forward to seeing the dedicated helpers on that date and again on the following day.

Volunteer drivers with their cars will also be required on the day to bring people from the parish and take them home in the evening.  Will drivers please report to the SVP on the day from 12 noon onwards.  Many thanks for all your support.

Eucharistic Ministers

There will be a meeting for Eucharistic Ministers on Monday 21st January in the Youth Centre commencing at 8.00pm.

 Knights of St Columba

The annual St Valentine?s Dance with Fish/Chicken & Chip Supper will be held on Saturday 16th February 2008.  Tickets at ?7.50 will be on sale after all Masses this weekend from the main porch of the church and also from the Parish Office. Buy yours early to avoid disappointment.

Bible Diaries

A small number of Claretian Bible Diaries for 2008 are available for purchase at ?6.00 each from the Parish Office.  As you meditate on the Word of God everyday, may these short reflections help you and those who share your life, listen to the Word better.  A few copies still remaining ? buy one now to avoid disappointment.

Details of all sessions and courses available are displayed in the side porch.

Getting Married?

A reminder that six months notice is normally required together with attendance and participation on a marriage preparation course.  This includes if you are getting married abroad.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place every Friday from 10.00am until 12noon and will continue after the 12.15 Mass until 3.00 pm.

School Playground and Parking

Due to a slight change in plans, and the subsequent need for planning permission, the proposed works to the School Playground will hopefully now begin in the middle of February.  The effects of this were discussed at the Parish Council meeting and it was suggested that we should encourage those who drive to the church, and who live within walking distance, to take this opportunity to consider coming on foot. 

Any suggestions regarding this would be gratefully received and can be fed back to the Parish Council or Fr Martin.               Thank you!

Friends of the Homeless

Thank you to the kind parishioners for their donations of ?30 and ?5 during the past week.

In Memoriam

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Mary Why who will be received into the Church on Wednesday 23rd January at 5.00pm with Requiem Mass on Thursday at 12.15pm.

Also Donal Shanahan whose Requiem Mass will be on Friday 25th January at 12.15 pm. Please remember them, and their families and all the faithful departed in your prayers.
