Heating System Starts to Fail
by Fr Martin Stone cmf

With any large building there will always be difficulties in heating.  With our Church, here in Hayes, this naturally the case ? being approximately 7,500 cubic metres.

As a new Parish Priest here in the Immaculate Heart of Mary it is a concern to ensure that those who come here to worship and prayer do so in relative comfort. Sadly, over the last few weeks this has not always been possible, as the heating has entered a temperamental stage of life ? to say the least.  (The company who originally engineered this system have long since finished trading!)  I think it is ?Murphy?s Law? that applies here.  As soon as winter comes, and with it the cold weather, the heating system decides to go on the blink.

Over the last few weeks we have been searching out possible alternatives and seeking out expert advice on how best to heat such a huge building, quickly and economically.  At present we have one quote back with an approximate figure of between ?35,000 and ?40,000.  We are waiting for others as these words are being typed.

Please pray that we may, at least, make it through the winter period so that any decisions can be taken with care and the necessary deliberation.
