Cherry Lane Cemetery
On Wednesday 1st October an open meeting was held in Barnhill Community Centre fighting to save Cherry Lane Cemetery from the threat of being transformed into an access route for the proposed new third runway. A large proportion of our parishioners were present, alongside other faiths as well as those who do not profess any faith, to voice their concerns and feelings against such a project.
We would encourage parishioners to reflect on the issue and, if you have not already done so, to sign a petition either in the church porch or online and to keep all affected in your prayers. People will be collecting names on petitions this weekend and then left in the church for people to sign during the week. Once filled these will be collated with others from around the area and submitted to Downing Street .
In addition a number of parishioners have asked if we could include the address of Cardinal Cormac-Murphy O?Connor in the newsletter. This is a request arising from the desire to write to him to request his support and assistance in the fight to save Cherry Lane Cemetery . We include the Cardinal?s contact details here as requested for those who are interested in making a difference.
Any letters should be directed to:
His Eminence, Cormac Cardinal Murphy-O?Connor
Archbishop?s House, Ambrosden Avenue, Westminster, London SW1P 1QJ.

We, Marianne and Aaron, would like to express our sincere gratitude for all efforts made at the Fulcrum cake sale last Sunday. Thanks to peoples generosity in purchasing cakes we were able to make a monumental sum of ?327.36. This further cascades our combined target of ?3,110.00 to a much more negotiable sum of ?1,200.00 We would like to finish by giving a special thanks to Fr Martin and all the others whose hard work contributed to both donation, sales and overall success of the cake sale.
Abortion Act
MPs have tabled an amendment to the HFE Bill calling for the extension of the Abortion Act to Northern Ireland .
The move flies in the face of the will of the people of Northern Ireland who have, through their elected representatives in both Stormont and Westminster , continued to say NO to abortion. Please write to your MP, John McDonnell, opposing the amendment as undemocratic and calling on him to withdraw the amendment.
