Abortion Act

MPs have tabled an amendment to the HFE Bill calling for the extension of the Abortion Act to Northern Ireland .

The move flies in the face of the will of the people of Northern Ireland who have, through their elected representatives in both Stormont and Westminster , continued to say NO to abortion.  Please write to your MP, John McDonnell, opposing the amendment as undemocratic and calling on him to withdraw the amendment.

St Edmund Campion

This Saturday at the 6.30pm Mass we welcome a group of walkers from the Catenian Association ? an international fellowship of practicing catholic laymen who meet socially at least monthly in groups or circles. The name comes from the Latin word ?Catena? or chain ? the circles being the links in a continuous chain.

As part of their centenary year celebrations, they have walked a section of the St. Edmund Campion Pilgrimage walk ? completed in 16 stages starting in June from  Oxford where St. Edmund was presented to Queen Elizabeth I and will finish next month at Tyburn where he was executed. Each stage of the Pilgrimage finishes at the local Catholic Church for Mass, where the Holy Relics of St. Edmund Campion will be present.  Details about the walk can be found at: www.stedmundcampionwalk.co.uk

The Walk is also supported by the Knights of St Columba, who are responsible for transporting the Holy Relics to each local church and which will be placed on the Altar during the 6.30 pm Saturday evening Mass. Please make them welcome and feel free to talk to any of them about their Association and its activities in this area.
