CAFOD Lent Fast Day is this Friday 6th March, please take a Fast Day envelope home with you today and give generously to CAFOD's Lent Fast Day and bring hope to people living in poverty.
Don't forget to fill in your Gift Aid details if you are a taxpayer.
Lent Lunches: Wednesday 4th March—1st April
Please add your name to the list in the Parish Office if you would like to donate a pot of home-made soup. Just bring the soup to the Social Centre kitchen by 11.30am on your chosen day.
If you have no transport we can collect Tuesday evening or early on Wednesday. Many thanks to all who contribute, the helpers and those that come along for lunch.
All proceeds go to Sr Maria Holly and the street children of the Philippines .
Pastoral Assistant
We are currently seeking a part-time Pastoral Assistant to assist in the running of catechetical programmes. S/he will be responsible for co-ordinating sacramental programs including Baptism preparation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation, as well as building a strong partnership with the local Catholic primary schools and state schools within the parish area. S/he will also co-ordinate the recruitment and ongoing training of all the catechists in the parish programmes.
The successful applicant will be experienced in catechetical and pastoral ministry, and must be a strong team player with excellent communication and administrative skills. Experience in a similar role would be preferred but is not essential.
It is important that the successful applicant is motivated, organised and able to work to their own initiative within this role.
Hours of work: 20 hours per week (on a rota basis)
Salary: £9-10 per hour (neg)

The retiring collection this weekend will be taken up by the SVP to help the needy of the Parish and beyond.
Parish Gift Aid & Planned Giving
BLUE Gift Aid envelopes are soon to be prepared for the new financial year commencing 6th April 2009. If you have not used your envelopes during the past six months or longer you will need to sign a new declaration for the new financial year.
Alternatively, donations under Gift Aid can be made with a Bankers Order which does not involve the use of envelopes. All forms are available from the Parish Office.
Please advise the Office if you are no longer a Tax payer then your Gift Aid will need to be cancelled. You only need to pay sufficient tax to cover any refund that the parish claims on your donation which is currently 25p in the £1.
GREEN Planned Giving envelopes for the new financial year are now available for collection from the Parish Office.
Fairtrade Fortnight: 23rd February—8th March
As part of Fairtrade Fortnight, a stall will be open in the foyer of the main hall on 2nd—7th March, 8.30—9.30am and 2.45—4.00pm. Tea & coffee will be available
Parish Council
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Wednesday 11th March at 8.00pm in the Youth Centre.
Friends of the Homeless
Thank you to the kind parishioners for their recent donations totalling £55.00 left in the office during the past weeks.
