Botwell Community Centre & Painting of the Church

The overall project in the refurbishment of the Youth Centre into the Botwell Community Centre is progressing well and on time for completion by Christmas.

The painting of the Church remains a priority but will not be able to start until next year. However, other works in preparation will continue.

Arriving on Time for Mass

It is sometimes unavoidable that people arrive late for Mass, however, we would encourage parishioners to try to arrive five minutes before the start of Mass. This avoids unnecessary disruption and distraction.  Thank you for your consideration.

Adoration of the Eucharist

Adoration takes place every Friday from 10.00am until 12 noon and continues after the 12.15 Mass until 3.00pm.  Those who spend a regular weekly hour in the presence of Jesus claim that this time has changed their lives.

Friends of the Homeless

Thank you to the kind parishioners for their recent donations totalling £40.00 and £100.00.

Parish Readers

There will be a Readers’ meeting on Wednesday 16th September at 8.00pm in the Claret Room.

Home Mission Sunday

Next Sunday 20th September there will be a retiring collection for the Agency for Evangelisation. This is one of a series of Diocesan collections and is purely voluntary and no one should feel obliged to give more than they are able.  Any donation you do make can be Gift Aided by completing the Home Mission Sunday envelope.

Society of St Vincent de Paul

The retiring collection this weekend will be taken up by the SVP to help the needy of the parish and beyond.  We are grateful to the parish family for their continued support.

Making your Will?

It is essential that you specify clearly the arrangements you wish for your funeral.  A Catholic Funeral generally consists of Requiem Mass followed by burial or cremation.  (Being in church overnight before the funeral is optional.)  Please ensure that those responsible for making the arrangements are quite clear about your wishes.

Blood Donors

The next session in Botwell Social Hall will be on Wednesday 16th September, 8.30am—5.30pm.

Foundation Governors Needed

The Diocese of Westminster Education Service is currently recruiting foundation governors for 1st September 2009 to all Catholic Schools in Diocesan Trusteeship which includes Botwell Primary School .

This is a vital ministry in the Church.  As a governor you will work as part of a team and will be provided with the necessary information and training to understand the role.

A key element of the role is to preserve and develop the Catholic character of the school in accordance with the school’s trust deed.
