Home Mission Sunday
Today is Home Mission Sunday and there will be a retiring collection for the Agency for Evangelisation. This is one of a series of Diocesan collections and is purely voluntary and no one should feel obliged to give more than they are able. Any donation you do make can be Gift Aided by completing the Home Mission Sunday envelope.
Arriving on Time for Mass
It is sometimes unavoidable that people arrive late for Mass, however, we would encourage parishioners to try to arrive five minutes before the start of Mass. This avoids unnecessary disruption and distraction. Thank you for your consideration.
Fairtrade Shop
More volunteers are required to help run the Fairtrade / Traidcraft Shop which is situated in the main porch of the Church. If interested, please leave your name in the Parish Office. Volunteers will need to undergo a CRB check.
Fr Paul’s Leaving Mass
We will be having Fr Paul’s leaving celebration on Sunday 11th October 2009. The 5.00pm Mass will be followed by a reception with International food in the Parish Social Hall with the focus on Italian, Indian and Spanish cuisine. We are asking for people to bring salads and desserts and to write their names in the list which will be available in the side porch. If anyone is willing to volunteer in any way, please leave your details in the Parish Office for the attention of Elaine and Lisa.
Secondary School References
Fr Martin will be available for Secondary School references on 29th - 30th September and 6th - 7th October. Please come to the Parish Office during these days and, especially in the evening, ring both doorbells. Regrettably we must affirm that Secondary School application forms will only be signed during these four days.
Botwell Community Centre & Painting of the Church
The overall project in the refurbishment of the Youth Centre into the Botwell Community Centre is progressing well and on time for completion by Christmas.
The painting of the Church remains a priority but will not be able to start until next year. However, other works in preparation will continue.
Eucharistic Ministers
There will be a meeting for Eucharistic Ministers on Monday 21st September at 8.00 pm in the Claret Room.
First Communion Catechists
There will be a meeting for all First Communion Catechists to discuss First Communions on Tuesday 29th September at 6.00 pm in the Upper Room.
Parking at School Time
A reminder, that due to reasons of health and safety, parents are not permitted to use the parking facilities within the church grounds.
Parents must make alternative arrangements otherwise they will be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £60.00 + VAT.
We apologise but hope that you will understand that the health and safety of people accessing our site is of paramount importance and comes before any inconvenience that this might cause. Thank you
Making your Will?
It is essential that you specify clearly the arrangements you wish for your funeral. A Catholic Funeral generally consists of Requiem Mass followed by burial or cremation. (Being in church overnight before the funeral is optional.)
Please ensure that those responsible for making the arrangements are quite clear about your wishes.
Christmas Bazaar: Santa’s Grotto
We are looking for someone who might be able to design a new Santa’s Grotto. If anyone can help in this respect then please see Fr Martin.
Adoration of the Eucharist
Adoration takes place every Friday from 10.00am until 12 noon and continues after the 12.15 Mass until 3.00pm. Those who spend a regular weekly hour in the presence of Jesus claim that this time has changed their lives.
Foundation Governors Needed
The Diocese of Westminster Education Service is currently recruiting foundation governors for 1st September 2009 to all Catholic Schools in Diocesan Trusteeship which includes Botwell Primary School .
This is a vital ministry in the Church. As a governor you will work as part of a team and will be provided with the necessary information and training to understand the role.
A key element of the role is to preserve and develop the Catholic character of the school in accordance with the school’s trust deed.
