First Sunday Of Advent

Confirmation session on 7th December (cancelled)
Due to many parents who have contacted us to say that they are unable to attend the meeting planned for the 7th December, it has been decided to cancel this meeting.  Instead, Fr Paul would like to invite the confirmation candidates and their parents to a special session on either Saturday 2nd December at 10.00am or Monday 4th December at 7.00pm (choose only one date).
This special session will be held in the Upper Room of Botwell House, access via the Parish Office.
 
Parish Bulletin
The next Parish bulletin will be out before Christmas, could contributions be sent to:-

as soon as possible?  Absolute deadline is 6th December.  This is short notice but we are keen to meet our deadline. Even if it’s just a paragraph inviting new members to join, your opinions on recent events i.e. the Christmas Bazaar it would be good to get your contribution so that new parishioners know what is happening in our Parish. 
If you have not received a reminder email it is because we no longer have your up to date email address.    Many thanks Gael and Jo.

New rotas are available for collection from the sacristy.
 
Love in Action
Now our seven week programme has ended we are inviting you to attend one of the workshops that we are organising   as we seek to identify how we should be responding as a parish to the social needs challenging our community.  Then in Advent we will arrange a parish day of recollection in which we will try to develop an active plan to try and improve how we put Catholic Social teaching into practice here in our parish.
Workshops  Please try to ensure that at least one of your family attends one of the workshops as listed below:-
Monday 4th December
9.30am or 7.00pm.
All workshops take place in the Upper Room of Botwell House.
 
Day of Recollection
On Saturday 16th December there will be a Day of Recollection beginning at 10.00am finishing at 4.00pm with a presentation by the youth of the parish at 3.00pm.  Come and prepare for Christmas and the coming year 2018.
 
Eucharistic Ministers
Will all Eucharistic Ministers please collect their minutes and rotas from the sacristy including important information for all ministers.
 
Liturgy Committee
A meeting of the Liturgy Committee will take place on Tuesday 5th December in the Claret Room. 7.30 pm—8.45pm.
 
Re: The Douay Martyrs Catholic Secondary School

It is with great joy I can share with you the following news:  With nominations drawn from 100’s of schools throughout England and Wales, the judging panel awarded the Douay Martyrs Catholic School community in Ickenham, Middlesex  the Catholic Social Teaching Award:  Cardinal Hume Award– ‘Living out the option for the poor’.   The Douay Martyrs Catholic School was honoured with this award for its outstanding work with refugees, homeless, donation campaign for victims of the Grenfell Tower disaster, £1000's of pounds donated to CAFOD, Catholic Children's Society, working with the local food banks, providing meals for bereaved families, creating Christmas hampers for families in need, working with the mental health teams, supporting local hospitals and visiting  residential homes.  And Just recently staff, students and families filled 20 large black sacks of winter clothing which were donated to the homeless in London
The School Chaplain and students travelled to The Prince Charles Cinema to attend a glittering awards ceremony in London’s Leicester Square on Thursday 23 November to receive the award on behalf of all the staff and students at the Douay Martyrs Catholic School in Ickenham, Middlesex. 
Head teacher – Mr Anthony Corish said, “This is great news and a great testament to all that staff, students, Governors and our parent community strive to do day after day”.
 
Westminster Year Book 2018
Copies of the Westminster Year Book 2018 are available from the Parish Office at £4.50 per copy.
 
Christmas Trees & Flowers
There will be a retiring collection this weekend towards the cost of Christmas trees & flowers for the church at Christmas.                   Thank you.
 
Friends of the Homeless
The retiring collection next weekend will be for the Friends of the Homeless to help in their support of the needy of London.

Christmas cards, gifts & cribs - all at reasonable prices -
are available from the repository in the Parish Office and
in the Church  (Front porch).
