Botwell Community Centre
One of the initiatives that we have been working on over the last few months is the renovation of the Youth Centre into “Botwell Community Centre”. This is something that we, as a Parish Council and Finance Committee after much discussion, have recognised as needing to be undertaken.
Adjacent to the Scout Hut the Centre has been used for many, many years for such things as Parent and Toddlers, Folk Group as well as for Pre-School. Over the last few years we have sought to keep up with minor maintenance but realise that a more drastic approach is needed.
In July, therefore, we aim to begin its well needed renovation so that the Centre can be used by our School, Parent and Toddler Groups as well as other local community groups. It is hoped that the works will be completed by December at a cost of between £90,000 and £120,000. As this is a huge investment we aim to dedicate the funds from the Community Day and the Grand Raffle to this cause. In addition I would like to thank our school who have also pledged to contribute funds for its renovation so that we might be able to move ahead with this project.
It is hoped that, providing funds are available, the refurbishment of the church will continue as planned.
Fr Martin.
